Separating funnel
- Liquids that do not mix together or have little or no mutual solubilityare called immiscible liquids. Water and hydrocarbon are examples of immiscible liquids.
- They can be separated by separating funnel as shown below.
- The two liquids form two layers and the bottom layer can be removed using the tap at the bottom of the funnel.
- The liquid with greater density is found at the lower layer.
